Cities4Children and Youth Kenya Alliance joined key stakeholders at the Informality Task Force (ITF) Engagement Meeting in Kenya to discuss partnerships for advancing climate-resilient, community-driven housing solutions in informal settlements and urban poor communities.
The forum convened representatives from national and county governments, civil society, and development partners to align around a joint implementation proposal, promote inclusive and integrated upgrading approaches with safeguards, and outline critical support needs.
Guided by the Global Action Plan for Accelerated Slum Transformation by 2030 and UN-Habitat Assembly resolutions adopted by Kenya in 2023, the discussions underscored the urgency of coordinated action in the face of rapid urbanisation, where more than half of the urban population resides in informal settlements, many in climate-exposed areas with limited access to essential services.
